The Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Air turns the iPad Air into a lightweight laptop for writing, email and study. It attaches with magnets, holds the iPad at an adjustable angle, and folds closed to protect the screen in a bag. Choose the 11 inch or 13 inch size above to match your iPad Air.
It adds a row of 14 function keys for brightness, volume, media and search, and a larger trackpad than earlier iPad keyboards. Browse more tablets and tablet accessories.
Keyboard and trackpad
The full size keys use a scissor mechanism that feels close to a MacBook. The trackpad supports the same Multi-Touch gestures as a Mac, so you can swipe between apps, select text precisely and work in spreadsheets without reaching for the screen.
Connection and charging
It connects through the Smart Connector, with no Bluetooth pairing and no battery to charge. A USB-C port on the hinge charges the iPad, which leaves the iPad’s own port free for a flash drive or an external display. See Apple’s iPad keyboards page for compatibility.
Which iPad it fits
It fits the 11 inch and 13 inch iPad Air with the M2 chip and later. It does not fit older iPad Air models or the iPad Pro. For iPad Pro (M4 and M5), choose the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro.
Who it suits
It suits university students, people who write on the move, and families who want the iPad to double as a homework computer. Add the Apple Pencil Pro for handwritten notes and drawing.
