How much is a MacBook Air in Kenya?

A MacBook Air costs KES 140,800 to 255,800 at Encom, excluding VAT, because the chip and memory change the price. The table below lists every model we stock, as well as the cheaper MacBook Neo for comparison.

Since the M5 is on offer, it now costs less than the top M3 with 24GB. So if you want 512GB of storage, the M5 is the smarter buy.

Which MacBook Air should I buy in Kenya?

In short, buy the M3 for the best value and the M5 if you plan to keep the laptop for five years or more. The M2 still makes sense on a tight budget, while the 15 inch suits people who work on spreadsheets all day.

Is the MacBook Air M2 price in Kenya still worth paying?

Yes, for light work such as email, Office, Zoom and browsing. According to Apple’s M2 tech specs, it has an 8-core CPU, a 13.6 inch Liquid Retina screen at 500 nits and Wi-Fi 6. It also has MagSafe charging and a headphone jack.

However, the M2 is now the oldest chip in the range. Since the M3 costs only KES 4,400 more, most buyers should step up.

Why is the M3 the value pick?

In fact, the MacBook Air 13 inch M3 gives you a newer chip for almost the same money as the M2. For instance, Apple’s M3 tech specs list Wi-Fi 6E, two Thunderbolt or USB 4 ports and a 52.6 Wh battery. In addition, you can choose a 24GB and 512GB version for heavier work.

For example, a student who lives in Google Docs and Teams will be happy with the 8GB model.

MacBook Air M5 price in Kenya: what does the extra money buy?

Above all, the extra money buys double the memory, double the storage and a much faster chip. Specifically, Apple’s M5 tech specs show 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD as standard, plus Wi-Fi 7 and a 12MP Center Stage camera. That camera also helps on client calls, because it keeps you in frame as you move.

According to Apple’s M5 launch announcement, the M5 Air runs AI tasks up to 4 times faster than the M4. It is also up to 9.5 times faster than the M1. Apple also says memory bandwidth rose 28 percent to 153GB/s.

“MacBook Air is the perfect laptop for anyone who values the unrivaled combination of performance and portability,” says Apple’s John Ternus. He is Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering.

Who should buy the 15 inch MacBook Air?

The 15 inch especially suits accountants, analysts and anyone who keeps two windows open side by side. According to Apple’s 15 inch M2 tech specs, it has a 2880 x 1864 screen, six speakers and a bigger 66.5 Wh battery. Still, it weighs 1.51 kg, so it is less handy on a matatu than the 13 inch models.

MacBook Air or MacBook Neo: is the cheaper Mac enough?

The MacBook Neo is enough for school work and browsing, but the Air is the better long-term laptop. At Encom, for example, the Neo starts at KES 102,300, about KES 38,500 less than the M2 Air.

However, the savings come with limits. As 9to5Mac reported at launch, the Neo runs on the A18 Pro phone chip with 8GB of memory, which you cannot upgrade later. It also drops MagSafe and supports only one external display. Meanwhile, Touch ID comes only on the 512GB version.

So choose the Neo for a first laptop, a younger student or a home computer. Then choose an Air if you edit photos, run many apps at once or work from it every day.

Is a used Intel MacBook Air from 2017 a good buy?

No, not in 2026, because support is ending. In fact, Apple said at WWDC that macOS Tahoe 26 is the last release that supports Intel-based Macs. Security updates will continue for a while, yet they will end.

That matters because people in Kenya still search for the 2017 MacBook Air, which is an Intel model. In contrast, every Air we sell uses Apple silicon. Apple Intelligence also needs a Mac with M1 or later, so an Intel Air misses those features too.

How long does a MacBook Air battery last when stima imeenda?

In general, a charged MacBook Air will get most people through a full working day without power. For example, Apple rates the M2, M3 and M5 models at up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing. Meanwhile, the Neo is rated at up to 16 hours of video.

Of course, the laptop is only half of the setup. Your Wi-Fi router dies the moment the power goes, so keep it running with a small UPS. Our guide to keeping work going during power cuts explains how. For longer outages, however, a portable power station for home or office can recharge the Mac several times over.

Also note the heat, since Apple lists an operating range of 10 to 35°C for the M5 Air. That is fine in Nairobi, but in Mombasa or Kisumu on a hot afternoon, keep it out of direct sun.

How much RAM and storage do you need on a MacBook Air?

8GB is enough for students and office work, while 16GB is the safer choice if you keep laptops for five years. Because Apple builds the memory into the chip, you cannot add more later.

• 8GB and 256GB: enough for email, Office, Teams and school work, so long as you keep big files in OneDrive or iCloud.
• 16GB and 512GB: photo editing, coding, many browser tabs and AI tools. The M5 also gives you this from day one.
• 24GB: heavy multitasking or large datasets, such as big Excel models. For video editing, however, look at the MacBook Pro 14 inch M5 instead.
