The EcoFlow DELTA 3 2000 Air is built for hours rather than raw power. Its 1,920Wh battery is close to double what most 1kWh units hold, so lights, TV, Wi-Fi, laptops and a small fridge can keep going through a long evening or overnight KPLC outage. The trade-off is output: it is rated at 1000W, which suits electronics and lighting, not the kitchen.

What you get with the DELTA 3 2000 Air

1,920Wh LFP battery

The battery uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells, the chemistry that copes best with being drained and recharged most days. EcoFlow rates it for around 10 years of use.

1000W output, 1500W with X-Boost

The AC output is rated at 1000W as a pure sine wave. X-Boost lets some resistive appliances up to about 1500W run at reduced voltage, so they work more slowly. In practice that means TVs, decoders, routers, laptops, LED lights, fans, phone chargers and a printer are fine. Kettles, irons, microwaves, hot plates and water heaters are not.

A slim body

It measures about 220 x 223 x 426 mm, which is compact for this capacity. The flat shape lets it stand upright or lie on its side, so it fits under a shelf, beside a TV stand or behind a counter. At about 17.5 kg it is a lift for one adult, not something you carry around daily.

Automatic switchover

Keep it plugged into the wall and it passes mains power to your devices, switching to battery when the power fails. Routers, TVs, laptops and lights carry on. Retailers quote different switchover times for this model, so we don’t recommend it as backup for a desktop PC. For a desktop, the DELTA 3 Classic with its under 10ms switchover is the safer choice.

Besides the AC outlets you get two USB-C and two USB-A ports for phones, tablets and smaller laptops.

Charging

From the wall it fills in about 2 hours. Retail listings give up to 500W of solar input, so a modest set of panels on the roof can top it up during the day. It also charges from a car socket, slowly.

Build and app

The casing is fire resistant to UL94 V-0. The EcoFlow app connects over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, shows battery level and what each device draws, and lets you switch the AC output on and off from your phone.

How long will it run?

To estimate runtime, take the capacity, reduce it by about 15% for inverter losses, and divide by the load in watts. These are estimates.

• Router, four 9W LED bulbs and a 43-inch LED TV, about 126W: 1,920 x 0.85 = about 1,630Wh, divided by 126W gives roughly 13 hours.
• Add a 45W laptop, about 171W: roughly 9.5 hours.
• Router and two laptops only, about 100W: roughly 16 hours.
• A small fridge averaging around 40W plus the TV, lights and router: roughly 10 hours.

On fridges: a compressor draws several times its running power for a moment when it starts. A small, efficient fridge is likely to start. With a large family fridge, the DELTA 3 Classic or DELTA 3 Plus, with 1800W of output, is the safer buy.

Compatibility

The 230V versions output pure sine wave AC at the same voltage as Kenyan mains. The AC socket type depends on the regional version, so ask us which plug it takes.

Setting it up

Charge it to full from the wall. Install the EcoFlow app, pair it and update the firmware. Keep the AC cable plugged into the wall, plug your router, TV and lights into the DELTA 3 2000 Air, and switch on the AC output. Switch off at the wall once to check everything stays on.

Who it suits

It suits households that lose power for many hours and want lights, TV and Wi-Fi through the night, small shops, chemists and salons that need lights, a till and phone charging, home workers on laptops, and people who want a large solar-charged battery for a plot or rural home. It is not the right choice for a desktop PC, a microwave or kettle, or anyone who needs more than 1000W at once.

How it compares

The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic holds about half the energy but delivers 1800W and switches in under 10ms, so it runs a microwave and protects a desktop. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus starts at 1kWh with 1800W and grows to 5kWh with extra batteries. If around 1kWh is enough, the EcoFlow DELTA 2 costs less. For offices with servers or several PCs, an online UPS such as the SIEL Greenpoint 2K runs the load through its inverter all the time, so there is no switchover gap.

Looking after it

Keep it somewhere dry with space around the vents, away from direct sun. Don’t cover it while it charges. Wipe it with a dry cloth. If it will sit unused, top it up every few months. Switch off the AC output when nothing is plugged in, because the inverter uses power just by being on.
