Lenovo V14 G4 IRU

A 14 inch Lenovo with H-series power for work and study

The Lenovo V14 G4 IRU is the 14 inch laptop Lenovo makes for small businesses and students who want proper performance without paying ThinkPad prices. The units we stock use Intel’s 13th generation H-series processors. We have two configurations: a Core i5-13420H and a Core i7-13620H, both with 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 14 inch Full HD screen. Both come without an operating system from Lenovo, and we install Windows 11 before delivery.

It is part of our range of student laptops.

What you get

Core i5-13420H or Core i7-13620H

H-series chips are built for steadier performance under load than the low-power U-series chips found in most thin laptops. The Core i5-13420H has eight cores and twelve threads and boosts up to 4.6GHz. That is plenty for Office, browser systems, video calls and coursework. The Core i7-13620H has ten cores and sixteen threads, boosts up to 4.9GHz and has twice the cache, so it is the one for heavier multitasking, coding and light photo or video editing. Both use Intel UHD integrated graphics, which handle video and office work well but are not meant for serious gaming.

8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD

8GB is enough for a normal work or study day with a sensible number of tabs open. Lenovo’s spec sheet shows memory soldered to the board on this model, plus one DDR4 SODIMM slot, so most units can take an extra stick later. Ask us before you buy a module so we can confirm what fits your unit. The 512GB NVMe SSD gives quick start-up and enough room for documents, photos and software.

14 inch Full HD screen

The 1920 x 1080 anti-glare screen is sharp enough for two documents side by side. Lenovo builds the V14 G4 with either a TN panel or a brighter IPS panel with wider viewing angles. If that matters to you, ask us which panel your unit has before you order.

Ports

Lenovo lists one USB-A 3.2 port, one USB 2.0 port, a USB-C port that handles data, charging and an external display, a full HDMI port for a monitor or projector, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a headset jack. There is also a separate round charging port. There is no SD card reader.

Wireless, webcam and keyboard

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built in. The 720p webcam has a physical privacy shutter, and dual microphones with Dolby Audio speakers cover Teams and Zoom calls. The keyboard is spill-resistant but not backlit, and there is no fingerprint reader.

Size and weight

Lenovo quotes a starting weight of 1.43kg and a thickness of 19.9mm. It is easy to carry to class or between meetings every day.

Who it suits

The Core i5 suits students, small offices, front desks and field staff who want a dependable 14 inch laptop at a fair price. The Core i7 suits developers, analysts and anyone who keeps several heavy apps open at once. If you want a backlit keyboard, a fingerprint reader and a metal lid for a corporate fleet, look at the ThinkBook options below. If you enter numbers all day, a 16 inch model with a number pad will serve you better.

Operating system

We install Windows 11 on it before delivery. If you would rather run a different operating system, tell us when you order.

How it compares

The Lenovo V14 G5 IRL is the newer version of this laptop, with DDR5 memory in two slots, a slightly thinner and lighter body and a Copilot key. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 14IRH8 uses the same Core i5-13420H in Lenovo’s home range. For a business build with a 16:10 screen, Thunderbolt 4 and a fingerprint reader, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G6 IRL is the step up.

Looking after it

Use a surge protector or a UPS where power cuts are common. H-series chips run warm under heavy load, so keep the vents clear and work on a hard surface rather than a bed or sofa. If the laptop stays plugged in most of the day, turn on Conservation Mode in the Lenovo Vantage app to protect the battery. Clean the keyboard with a soft brush and the screen with a dry microfibre cloth.

Works well with

The Lenovo 400 Wireless Mouse is a simple add for working on the move. For a desk setup, add the Lenovo 160 wired keyboard and mouse and the UGREEN Metallic Foldable Laptop Stand to lift the screen to eye level.
