Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH8

A 15.6 inch Lenovo with Core i7 power for students and home users

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH8 is a large-screen everyday laptop with more processing power than its price suggests. It pairs a 15.6 inch Full HD screen and a full keyboard with a number pad with Intel’s H-series processors, which are usually found in performance laptops. We stock it with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13620H, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.

It is part of our range of student laptops.

What you get

Intel Core i7-13620H

The Core i7-13620H has 10 cores and 16 threads and boosts up to 4.9GHz. That is a big step up from the U-series chips in most laptops at this level. It handles large spreadsheets, programming, data analysis, many browser tabs and photo editing in Lightroom or Canva without slowing down. Graphics are Intel UHD, good for video, Office and light games, but it is not a gaming laptop.

16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD

The 16GB of LPDDR5 memory runs in dual channel, which helps both speed and graphics. It is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded, but 16GB is enough for school, office and creative work for years. The 512GB SSD sits in an M.2 slot and can be swapped for a larger drive, up to 1TB, if you run short of space.

15.6 inch Full HD screen

The 1920 x 1080 anti-glare screen gives you room to work on two documents side by side and is easy on the eyes in bright rooms.

Keyboard with number pad

The full-size keyboard includes a dedicated number pad, useful for accounting, data entry and anyone who types figures often.

Ports

You get two USB-A ports, a USB-C port that supports data, charging and an external display, a full HDMI port, an SD card reader and a headset jack. It charges through a round-tip power connector with the included 65W adapter. There is no Ethernet port.

Wireless and webcam

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built in. The webcam has a physical privacy shutter and dual microphones, so online classes and meetings are covered.

Size and weight

Lenovo quotes a starting weight of about 1.62kg and a thickness of about 1.8cm. It is light for a 15.6 inch laptop and easy to carry between home, campus and the office.

Who it suits

The Slim 3 15IRH8 suits engineering, IT and business students, freelancers, small business owners and home users who want Core i7 performance and a big screen on a modest budget. It is a good choice for people who run heavier software than Office. If you need a fingerprint reader, a wired network port or a laptop built to survive daily travel, a ThinkPad is the better buy. If you only browse and use Office, a Core i5 model saves you money.

Operating system

We install Windows 11 on it before delivery. If you would rather run a different operating system, tell us when you order.

How it compares

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH10 is the newer model with a taller 15.3 inch screen and a free memory slot. For a smaller and cheaper option, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 14IRH8 uses the same platform with a Core i5. The ASUS Vivobook 14 is a lighter budget alternative, and the Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 1 is the business-grade choice at a similar size.

Looking after it

Use a surge protector or a UPS where power cuts are common. The Core i7 H-series chip runs warm under heavy load, so keep the vents clear and work on a hard surface. If it stays plugged in most of the day, turn on Conservation Mode in Lenovo Vantage to protect the battery. Clean the keyboard with a soft brush and the screen with a dry microfibre cloth.

Works well with

The Lenovo 400 Wireless Mouse is a simple, reliable add-on. The UGREEN Swivel Laptop Stand lifts the screen to eye level, and the Lenovo 160 keyboard and mouse combo gives you a full desk setup.
