Dell Latitude 3520

A 15.6 inch Dell business laptop with a full number pad

The Dell Latitude 3520 is the 15.6 inch model in Dell’s entry business range. The bigger screen and the full-size keyboard with a number pad make it a favourite in accounts offices, banks, SACCOs, schools and anywhere people spend the day in spreadsheets and finance systems. It comes in two configurations here: an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 or an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7, both with 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a Full HD screen.

It is part of our range of business laptops.

What you get

Core i5 or Core i7, 11th generation

Both processors are four-core, eight-thread chips from Intel’s 11th generation. The Core i5-1145G7 boosts up to 4.4GHz and supports Intel vPro, so an IT team can manage it remotely. It is the sensible pick for Office, browser systems, email and video calls. The Core i7-1165G7 boosts up to 4.7GHz and gives you more headroom for large Excel models, many open tabs, light photo work and heavier multitasking. If you are unsure, tell us what the laptop will be used for and we will point you to the right one.

8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD

Eight gigabytes is enough for a normal office day. The 3520 has two memory slots and supports up to 32GB, so you can add a second stick later instead of replacing the laptop. A matching second stick also lets the Intel Iris Xe graphics run in dual channel, which makes them noticeably quicker. The 512GB SSD gives you room for years of documents, and it keeps start-up and file opening fast.

15.6 inch Full HD screen and number pad

The 1920 x 1080 anti-glare screen shows more rows and columns than a 14 inch laptop, which matters when you work in ledgers and reports all day. The keyboard includes a dedicated number pad, so data entry is quicker and you do not need an external keypad.

Ports for a normal office

You get three USB-A ports for a mouse, flash drives and printers, a USB-C port that supports charging and an external display, a full HDMI port for a monitor or projector, a wired Ethernet port, a microSD card reader and a headset jack. The Ethernet port is a real advantage in offices with cabled networks or weak Wi-Fi.

Wireless and webcam

Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth come built in, with an HD webcam and microphones for Teams and Zoom calls.

Size and weight

Dell quotes the 3520 at about 1.79kg and around 18mm thick. It is a desk-first laptop that is still easy to carry to meetings or between branches.

Who it suits

The Latitude 3520 suits finance and admin teams, banks and SACCOs, schools and colleges, NGOs and small businesses that want a business-grade Dell with a big screen and a number pad. The Core i7 suits managers and power users who keep many apps open. If you travel every day and want something lighter, a 14 inch model such as the Dell Latitude 3420 is easier to carry.

Operating system

We install Windows 11 on it before delivery, so it is ready to use when it arrives. If you would rather run a different operating system, tell us when you order.

How it compares

For the newest generation in the same size, look at the Dell Latitude 3540, which uses a 13th Gen processor. If you want Dell’s mid-range build and more ports for docking, the Dell Latitude 5520 and the Dell Latitude 5530 are the step up. Comparing brands? The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen 2 and the HP ProBook 450 G10 are the closest 15.6 inch alternatives with number pads.

Looking after it

Use a surge protector or a UPS where power cuts are common, and keep the vents clear by working on a hard surface rather than a bed or sofa. If the laptop stays plugged in at your desk most of the day, Dell’s power settings let you limit charging so the battery lasts longer. Clean the keyboard and number pad with a soft brush and the screen with a dry microfibre cloth.

Works well with

Add the Dell KM3322W keyboard and mouse for a full desk setup, or the Dell WM126 wireless mouse on its own. The UGREEN Metallic Foldable Laptop Stand lifts the screen to eye level for long days at a desk.
