HP EliteBook 6 G1i 14

HP’s 2025 EliteBook for office staff who need Ethernet and Thunderbolt in 14 inches

The HP EliteBook 6 G1i 14 is the newest 14 inch model in HP’s EliteBook 6 line, which replaces the EliteBook 640. HP kept the parts business buyers rely on, a wired network port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and upgradable memory, and moved to Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series processors with a dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard. The unit we stock has an Intel Core Ultra 7 255U, 8GB of DDR5 RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 14 inch screen.

It is part of our range of business laptops.

What you get

Intel Core Ultra 7 255U

The Core Ultra 7 255U has 12 cores and 14 threads and boosts up to 5.2GHz. It mixes performance cores with power-saving cores, so it stays responsive in Office, finance systems and browser-based tools while using little power on lighter work. It also has a 12 TOPS NPU, a small AI engine that runs features like background blur and noise removal on calls without loading the main processor.

8GB DDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD

This unit has 8GB of DDR5 memory. That covers email, documents, a business system and video calls, but it will feel tight with many browser tabs and big spreadsheets open at once. The good news is that the EliteBook 6 G1i uses two SODIMM slots rather than soldered memory, and HP supports up to 64GB. Ask us before you buy memory so we can confirm what fits. The 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD keeps start-up and file opening fast.

14 inch 16:10 screen

The screen uses a 16:10 shape, which shows more of a document or spreadsheet than an older 16:9 laptop. HP builds this model with a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA anti-glare panel in most configurations, with brighter versions and a sharper 2.5K 120Hz panel as options. Ask us which panel this unit has. The hinge opens to about 177 degrees, so the screen can lie almost flat on a desk for sharing.

Ports, including Ethernet

On the left you get two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports for charging, docks and monitors, a USB-A port, a full HDMI 2.1 port and a headset jack. On the right are a second USB-A port and an RJ45 Ethernet port. That is a full set for an office: no dongles for the projector, the network cable or older flash drives.

Wireless, webcam and security

HP fits either Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4 or Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3, depending on configuration. Camera options run from Full HD up to a 5MP camera with IR for Windows Hello face sign-in, and every version has a physical privacy shutter. A fingerprint sensor is optional. Security covers a TPM 2.0 chip, HP Wolf Security for Business and Secured-core PC support, which IT teams will want for company data.

Keyboard, size and battery

The backlit, spill-resistant keyboard includes a Copilot key, and the speakers are tuned by Poly for clearer calls. HP quotes a starting weight of about 1.40kg and a body about 17mm thick at the back. Battery size depends on configuration, 48Wh or 56Wh, and HP Fast Charge reaches about 50 percent in 30 minutes.

Who it suits

The EliteBook 6 G1i 14 suits finance teams, managers, NGO staff and companies that want a current business laptop with a long life ahead of it. The Core Ultra 7 gives plenty of processing headroom. If your staff keep many apps open all day, plan to add memory, or choose a model that already has 16GB. If you need a bigger screen with a number pad, look at the HP EliteBook 8 G1i 16.

Operating system

We install Windows 11 on it before delivery, so it is ready to use when it arrives. If you would rather run a different operating system, tell us when you order.

How it compares

The HP EliteBook 640 G11 is the model it replaces, with an older Core Ultra 7 155U but 16GB of RAM. The HP EliteBook 8 G1i 14 is the step up, with a faster H-series chip and 16GB of RAM in a thinner body. From Dell, the Dell Latitude 5450 is the nearest 14 inch business alternative.

Looking after it

Use a surge protector or a UPS at your desk, since power that returns with a spike can damage the charger and the board. Keep the vents clear and avoid working on beds or sofas. If it stays plugged in all day, turn on Battery Health Manager in HP’s BIOS so the battery is not held at full charge. Wipe the body and screen with a dry microfibre cloth.

Works well with

The Logitech MX Anywhere 3S is a compact mouse that works on almost any surface. For a full desk setup, add the Logitech MK540 keyboard and mouse combo and the UGREEN Metallic Foldable Laptop Stand.
