A 14 inch convertible for school and everyday work

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14IAU7 is a 14 inch touchscreen laptop with a 360 degree hinge. Use it as a normal laptop for assignments and email, flip the screen round to tent mode for a video call, or fold it flat and read PDFs like a tablet.

We stock it with a choice of 12th Gen Intel processors, the Core i5-1235U or the Core i7-1255U, both with 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. It sits in our home laptops range.

Which processor should you pick?

The Core i5-1235U is plenty for Microsoft 365, browsing, online classes and Zoom. The Core i7-1255U boosts higher and copes better with heavier spreadsheets and light photo editing. The Core i7 version also comes with a fingerprint reader, a backlit keyboard and Windows 11 Home.

The screen

The 14 inch touchscreen runs at 1920 x 1200. The taller 16:10 shape shows more of a page than a standard Full HD laptop, which helps when you are reading notes or working in Excel. Pair it with a Lenovo Digital Pen for handwritten notes and marking up documents.

One thing to know before you buy: the 8GB of memory is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded later. For school and office work it is enough. If you run heavy design software, ask us about a model with more memory.

Ports and connectivity

You get a USB-C port that handles charging, data and display output, two USB-A ports, HDMI, an SD card reader and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth cover wireless. A UGREEN 240W USB-C cable is a handy spare if you charge from a power bank.

Full details are in the Additional information tab below and on Lenovo’s specification page.
