The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is a 14.6 inch Android tablet built for people who want a large screen for drawing, note-taking, reading and video, in a body only 5.1mm thin. It comes with the S Pen, runs Samsung DeX for a desktop-style layout, and has a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip that handles heavy apps with ease.

What you get

A 14.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen

The screen runs at 2960 x 1848 with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Samsung rates it at 1,000 nits typical and 1,600 nits peak, so it stays readable near a bright window. At this size you can open two full apps side by side, or a document next to a video call, without either feeling cramped.

S Pen included

The S Pen ships in the box and attaches magnetically to the back of the tablet. It needs no pairing for writing and drawing. Use it to annotate PDFs, sign contracts, take handwritten notes in Samsung Notes, or sketch in apps like Clip Studio Paint and Infinite Painter.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ with 12GB RAM

This is a flagship chip built on a 3nm process with an Immortalis-G925 graphics processor. Twelve gigabytes of RAM keeps several apps open at once, which matters on a screen this large. Galaxy AI features such as note summaries and handwriting help run on the tablet.

256GB storage, plus a microSD slot

Unlike most Samsung phones, the Tab S11 Ultra keeps a microSD card slot, so you can add storage for films, course material or design files later.

Cameras, speakers and battery

There is a 13MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide on the back, good for scanning documents and whiteboards. The 12MP ultra-wide front camera sits on the long edge, which is where you want it for video calls in landscape. Four speakers tuned by AKG give full sound for films. The 11,600mAh battery charges at up to 45W with a compatible USB-C charger.

Build and connectivity

The body is aluminium with an IP68 rating for dust and water. It weighs about 692g. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and a USB-C 3.2 port are built in. There is no headphone jack, so use Bluetooth or USB-C earphones. This Wi-Fi model has no SIM slot, so you connect through Wi-Fi or your phone’s hotspot.

Software

It runs Android 16 with One UI 8. Samsung DeX turns it into a desktop-style workspace with resizable windows when you add a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Who it suits

The Tab S11 Ultra suits designers, architects and students who draw or annotate a lot, executives who read board papers and reports on the move, and anyone who wants the biggest possible screen for films. If 14.6 inches is too large to hold for long, a smaller tablet will be more comfortable. If you need full Windows software such as desktop Excel macros or accounting packages, a Windows 2-in-1 is a better fit.

How it compares

Next to an iPad Pro, the Tab S11 Ultra gives you a larger screen, a microSD slot and a pen in the box rather than as a separate purchase. Next to a Windows 2-in-1 like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen 3, it is thinner, lighter for its size and better for drawing, but it runs Android apps, not Windows programs. Looking after it

A tablet this thin needs a cover. Keep the S Pen on its magnetic spot when you are not using it, since loose pens are the most common thing to lose. Charge from a surge-protected socket. If you leave it plugged in at a desk most of the day, turn on the battery protection setting in One UI so it stops charging at a lower level.

Works well with

A Samsung 25W USB-C adapter will charge it overnight, and the UGREEN 240W USB-C cable supports its fastest charging. For DeX work, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S connects over Bluetooth and fits in a laptop bag.
